Design|build

Design/build is an expression used to describe a project approach that attempts to balance or optimize project quality and cost by linking design and construction.  Design/build strategies are particularly useful in geotechnical construction as engineering design and construction may be at odds with respect to available data, variable geologic conditions in the subsurface, and understanding and adaptability of the possible systems that are specified for the project.  Many of these obstacles can be overcome with a design/build approach as the design team and construction team are in constant communication and systems can be readily adapted to unknown site conditions or construction requirements, minimizing cost and schedule impacts.

Design/build is also frequently used in conjunction with value engineering which involves providing the owner or general contractor with cost savings by replacing a previously designed system with less expensive or more effective geotechnical construction strategies.  At NW Soil, we use state of the art technologies and construction practices to provide our clients with a cost-effective solution tailored to their specific project needs.
